Around the world with the Master Patissier Afternoon Tea at The Park Lane Hotel
Famed French Master Patissier Eric Lanlard and The Park Lane Hotel have come together to create a special ‘Carnet de Voyage’ afternoon tea experience inspired by Queen Victoria’s travels.
A ‘Carnet de Voyage’ was a travel diary people would keep during the early 1900s to record and document their journeys. Queen Victoria’s “Carnet” is considered a real piece of art, filled with monuments, cities, people and also the food she discovered during her travels.
Inspired by these travel tales, Master Patissier Eric Lanlard invites visitors to The Park Lane Hotel to embark on a tour of delectable and edible travelogues from around the world including the French-inspired Pumpkin and Hazelnut savoury ‘Macaron de Paris’ with chicken crackling, Egg Crème Fraiche Salad with micro amaranth on a brioche mini roll as well as the Far East-inspired Lemongrass and Coriander Thai Crab short pastry tartlet and Dill Cured Smoked Salmon on beetroot bread with sour cream, inspired the Queen’s visit to the Baltics.
Sweeter items on offer include Pistachio Financier with Persian Rose Nectar that hails from the Middle East, a Mango and Mint Salsa with Spanish Saffron Crème Patisserie, Indian-inspired cardamom biscuits and precious mango pearls served in a Kilner jar, South American Alto El Sol Peruvian dark chocolate mousse with passionfruit cream and finally a Kirsch crème mousseline tartlet topped with raspberries and blackcurrant coulis.
In another departure from traditional flavours, delicious Orange Blossom and Bee Pollen fruit scones served with clotted cream and rose petal preserve are also on the menu, along with Raspberry and Cocoa nib scones served with clotted cream and raspberry preserve.
The Eric Lanlard Afternoon Tea will be available from Thursday 13th August through to Thursday 31st December. The price is £37 per person or £45 that includes a glass of champagne.
