A London Afternoon Tea Fit for a Royal Baby
The Park Lane Hotel celebrates the forthcoming arrival of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’s second child with a Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea
In celebration of the imminent birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s second child, The Park Lane Hotel, London, has created a very special Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea. Available from 1st April to 31st May 2015, the baby-inspired Afternoon Tea allows guests and expectant mothers to become part of the highly anticipated wait for the newest member of the Royal family.
The Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea features a variety of tantalising treats created using ingredients that are suitable and beneficial for expectant mothers. The Park Lane Hotel’s award-winning Pastry Chef, Sarah Hartnett, has created this special menu which will be served in the beautiful setting of The Palm Court, the hotel’s famed Art Deco lounge.
The highlight of delights on offer is the ABC Learning Block, a colourful sticky apricot cake served with orange mousse. The dried raisins and apricots along with the seeds in the cake are a rich source of iron whilst the vitamin C, found in the orange mousse, helps the body in absorbing the iron.
The tea will also feature the petite Pram Cake, a hazelnut, flaxseed & polenta cake served with macaroon wheels. This delightful sweet contains folic acid, to aid cellular growth and regeneration while the flaxseeds provide a high source of Omega 3, fatty acids and fibre.
This menu also includes The Milk Bottle, a vanilla milk panna cotta; The Soother, a pink grapefruit and white chocolate mousse; as well as freshly baked scones and homemade preserves.
Savoury items include pregnancy power foods such as Roast Scottish Salmon on basil bread served with lemon and dill yoghurt. Salmon is a rich source of Omega 3 which promotes neurological and visual development while it is also a healthy source of protein and vitamin B.
Another delicious and healthy item on the savoury menu is Poached Chicken served with white pain de mie bread, raisins, red onions and tarragon mayonnaise. Chicken is a highly nutritious food full of vitamins and minerals. It is also a great source of lean protein and 9 essential amino acids that are the building blocks of healthy muscles.
Other savoury items on offer include beetroot bread with honey roast gammon, apple chutney and watercress, golden gross goats cheese on a white fig Panini with hazelnut chocolate and green pea panna cotta with asparagus and pea shoots.
In keeping with the Royal baby shower theme, The Palm Court’s talented mixologist, David Lawlor, has created the ’Baby Love Mocktail’, a delicious mix of Greek yoghurt, banana, honey, peanut butter and milk. David’s sweet drink is high in Omega 3, protein and potassium, which all support a healthy pregnancy for expectant mothers.
The Royal Baby Shower Afternoon Tea at The Park Lane Hotel will be served from 1st April to 31st May 2015 (3.30pm and 4.30pm on weekdays and 2pm and 4.30pm at weekends) in The Palm Court and costs £45 per person, including a glass of Moët & Chandon Impérial or a Baby Love Mocktail.
