Forget fame and fortune, well-being is topping to do lists for global travelers in our “always-on” culture, according to a global well-being survey conducted by Westin Hotels & Resorts. Some 62% of survey respondents consider maintaining a balanced sense of well-being as a status symbol, outranking professional accomplishment (47%) and a healthy relationship (48%). How important is well-being in today’s stress-ridden society? With 64% of global respondents stating that their stress levels have increased over the last few years, 39% would give up alcohol and almost a quarter of global respondents and nearly half of U.S. respondents would give up sex to improve their overall well-being.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. today announced that it will soon introduce the Westin brand to Egypt with the opening of The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa Katameya Dunes early next year. Owned by New Cairo for Real Estate Investment Company SAE, the 128-room resort will be ideally located within the Katameya Dunes development, a 1.8 million square metre luxury residential compound in the New Cairo City District.

Owned by Ghanem Al Thani Holdings, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa is scheduled to open in late 2014 and will enjoy a prime location in the city’s central business district, comprising a total landscaped area of 49,000 square meters. Just 15 minutes from Doha International Airport, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa will be in close proximity to the Museum of Islamic Art, Education City and the Al Mushreib rejuvenation project in Doha’s downtown area.
